Tom Hardy Beats Himself Up as the Kray Twins in First Full Trailer of 'Legend'
Movie

In the approximately two-and-a-half minute video, Reggie and Ronnie Kray are seen slapping each other in front of partygoers after Reggie throws Ron to the floor.

AceShowbiz - The first full trailer for "Legend (2015)" has arrived for viewing pleasure. Packed with action, thriller and comedy, it follows Tom Hardy's Ronnie and Reggie Kray dealing with mafia and detectives who are going to take them down.

"London in the 1960s, everyone has story about the Krays. They were twins. Reggie was the gangster prince of the East End. Ron Kray was a one man mob," the narrator says. Reggie is told about Ron, "Your brother is a violent, paranoid schizophrenic." The narrator continues, "It is time for the Krays to enter the gangster legend."

Reggie and Ronnie then meet up with a mafia who offers them to make London "the Las Vegas of yours." When the mafia offers Ronnie a "nice girl," he replies, "I prefer boys."

One scene shows Reggie throwing Ron to the floor in front of the partygoers. "You hit me," Ron tells Reggie, to which he replies, "Yeah." Ron then slaps Reggie before they hit each other. "Love. Live. Fight. Rule. Like A Legend," a messages appears on the screen.

In another scene, Ron is seen threatening a group of men with two guns inside his pockets. "I come here with a proper shoot out," Ron says, "A shoot out! What is a shoot out? Like a whistle."

The mafia tells Reggie that Ron "is always candid" and "we need to do something about [him]." But Reggie replies, "I can't do that. He is my brother."

In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, director Brian Helgeland explains how Tom managed to fight himself in the movie. "There's a scene where he fights himself, or the brothers fight, I should say. His stuntman Jacob Tomuri - they know each other from 'Mad Max: Fury Road' - that morning when we were going to roll, Tom came up to me and asked, 'How many takes do you think you're going to do?' Which he never asked me ever."

"I said, 'Why you want to know?' He said, 'Well, because we're going to be really hitting each other. [laughs] So I need to know so we can pace ourselves.' I said, 'In that case I would say three takes.' He goes, 'Oh good! Three takes we can go for it on each take.' It was three takes and they really hit each other. I'm terrified Tom's going to have his nose broken in the middle of a take," he adds.

When asked how Tom shifted from Reggie to Ron while filming, Brian says, "[Tom] went, from hour to hour, he would be one or the other. There were exceptions, but he usually Reggie during the first part of the day because it was the bigger part. Then many days Ron didn't work at all. But if it was the two of them, Tom and I would rehearse in the morning and he'd read both parts and we'd work out blocking."

"He'd record Ron's side of the dialogue, give it to sound guy who'd cut it together in a way he could fit his Reggie dialogue in between his Ron dialogue," the director continues, "Then he'd go off to hair and makeup and come back. He would wear an earpiece that no one could see. We would play Ron in his ear. His stunt man was his body double for Reggie and Ron so he could have someone in front of him to look at. Then we'd play back Reggie's recording in his ear when he was playing Ron."

"Legend", also starring Emily Browning, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan, David Thewlis, and Aneurin Barnard, is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on October 2.
