Fox is reportedly planning a Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover film which is said to be released in 2018.

AceShowbiz - Fox has been busy expanding their own version of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Adding another project to its line-up of upcoming movies, Latino Review reports that Fox wants a Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover, which is said to be released in 2018.

Fox wants the two to team up for a feature film. However, there are several issues to be put into consideration before the project could move forward. First, the studio has to see how Josh Trank's "The Fantastic Four" works. The reboot has to be successful either at the box office or with critics. Moreover, Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" has to be a hit too to make Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover movie become a reality.

There is no plot detail as of now, so it is unclear if the teams are battling each other or teaming up. No one has an idea about which characters will appear in the film. Since it is said that the rebooted "Fantastic Four" isn't set in the same world as the "X-Men" movies, many speculated that the Fantastic Four would explore parallel dimensions. Regarding the rumor, Latino Review emphasizes that it's "far from a done deal."

To put various superheroes in one universe seems to be moneymaking trend right now. It's like what Marvel does for "Captain America: Civil War" which will bring the new Spider-Man into the MCU fold. Besides, Warner Bros. DC sets up its own universe with 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which will pit Henry Cavill's Man of Steel against Ben Affleck's Batman.
