Movie

As production on the movie is about to begin, plot details of the 'Ghostbusters' reboot are revealed, while Stone confirms that she passed on the project because she wasn't ready for a big commitment.

AceShowbiz - Production on Paul Feig's untitled Ghostbusters reboot is set to begin in Boston. The director hinted that the filming would start on Thursday, June 18, as he posted a photo on Twitter which is captioned with "And... action! #slimetimestartstomorrow." The good news is, fans also get to learn about plot details and a possible name to make a cameo in the reboot.

On the night before the production starts, plot details for the sci-fi comedy have finally come out. The new film reportedly will follow Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy's characters, unheralded authors who write a book asserting their belief that ghosts are real.

Flash forward a few years, Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she becomes the laughing stock of academia. Eventually, she reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers (Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon), and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

As for cameos from the original crew, there is no confirmation about it yet. However, original "Ghostbusters" actors Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray are very likely to take part in the female reboot as a source said that "they are negotiating."

Aykroyd hinted that the reboot would be "hot!" He also praised the cast in the upcoming movie. "The interplay, and with each of them, their individual voices are so well defined. They're just such different characters, and there's a friction. There's a dynamic there. I'm not going to spoil it for people...it's funny. It's intelligent. It hits the right notes, and I'm really excited about it," he said.

Meanwhile, Emma Stone told the Wall Street Journal that she turned down a role in the all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot. She explained the reasons why she quit the movie, saying that she wasn't ready to work on another tentpole movie. "The script was really funny," the actress said. "It just didn't feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment - it's a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water."

Ivan Reitman is producing while the script is written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. The fantasy comedy movie is slated for a release on July 22, 2016 in the United States.
