Jon Bernthal Joins 'Daredevil' Season 2 as The Punisher

The 'Walking Dead' alum is confirmed to play Frank Castle, a ruthless vigilante who takes the ominous alter ego of The Punisher.

AceShowbiz - "Daredevil" adds Jon Bernthal ("The Wolf of Wall Street", "The Walking Dead", "Fury") for the upcoming second season. The actor is announced to portray The Punisher in the next installment due to premiere on Netflix in 2016.

The Punisher whose real name is Frank Castle is a martial arts master and U.S. military veteran in the Marvel comic books. He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City's Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.

"Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences," says Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television. "Castle's appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same."

Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock or the titular hero and Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple. Steven S. DeKnight, The showrunner of the first season, will be replaced by marco Ramirez whose writing credits include "Sons of Anarchy", "Orange Is the New Black", and "Da Vinci's Demons".
