'This is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers,' the reality star spoke out on her called-off wedding.

AceShowbiz - Bristol Palin has finally broken silence on her canceled wedding to U.S. Marine Dakota Meyer. The "Life's a Tripp" star addressed the failed nuptials for the first time on Tuesday, May 26 on her website.

Palin and Meyer publicly announced their engagement in March and were originally set to be married on May 23. After the pair canceled the nuptials, it was reported that the Palin and Meyer families still planned to gather in Kentucky for Memorial Day Weekend BBQ.

Many speculated that the called-off wedding was prompted by rumors that the Medal of Honor recipient hid a secret that he had previously married a Michigan woman in 2008 in Kentucky when he was only 19 years old. However, Palin was quick to debunk the reports, saying that she knew about Meyer's previous marriage and insisting that he had divorced from the woman "years ago."

Days after the canceled wedding, Palin wrote a message on Facebook along with a link to a post on her blog. "Sorry it's taken me so long to talk about this... It's been hard," so she wrote on the social media site.

"I guess you have seen by now that the wedding - that was supposed to happen last weekend - was called off," Palin began her statement on her blog. "I'm sure you've seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers."

She continued, "I know God's plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated." Palin ended her post thanking fans for all of their love and support.
