The third installment of the rebooted 'Planet of the Apes' franchise is reportedly called 'War of the Planet of the Apes'.

AceShowbiz - The next "Planet of the Apes" movie has reportedly got its title. Sources tell Collider that the third installment of the rebooted "Planet of the Apes" franchise will be called "War of the Planet of the Apes" as in the closing line of "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", Caesar says, "War has... already begun. Ape started war. And human... Human will not forgive."

In the second movie, Dreyfus, played by Gary Oldman, told Malcolm, played by Jason Clarke, that the military was on their way. There was also a shot of a warship used in the international trailer of "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes". However, the ship didn't appear in the finished movie.

Director Matt Reeves previously told the site that the original ending of the second film "went one step further," but he didn't want to be boxed in. "What was really most important was to leave you in that emotional space with Caesar, which is the ending of the movie that you've seen, and know that the future is coming, but not already be at that future," he explained.

"Because the moment is really about the moment that's past," he added, "It could have been the planet of the humans and the apes, and that parting between Caesar and Malcolm is a very emotional moment to me, and I didn't want something that distracted and became something else. So yeah, there actually was another version of the movie, and that version never even got fully realized. We cut it late, but the effects for it weren't realized for it either."

Matt and Andy Serkis will return for the third film. Matt will work on the script along with Mark Bomback. Produced by Peter Chernin, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, the movie is scheduled to be released on July 14, 2017 Stateside.
