Nearly eight months after her mother's death, Melissa believes that her mother's death could have been avoided.

AceShowbiz - On May 4, Melissa Rivers came to speak on "Today" show about the loss of her mother, Joan Rivers. She also explained the reason behind the medical malpractice lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy.

The "Fashion Police" host died on September 4 during a minor throat surgery. On the night before she went for the surgery, she had a phone conversation with Melissa. "All she said was, 'Ugh, I hate having to do this, getting old sucks,' " Melissa recalled. The TV producer said, "In my opinion, it was 100 percent preventable."

She still believes that the fatal complication causing her mom's death could have been avoided. The 47-year-old also shared that she got furious with the circulating rumor of what happened in the surgery room during the procedure. "I think, the selfie," Melissa said when she was asked what bothered her the most. "There was a story circulating that during the procedure, the doctors were taking selfie of themselves, with my mother - while they were working on my mom," she added.

Melissa, however, hasn't seen the selfie pictures which are said having her mom in them. Melissa strongly believes that there must have been something wrong during the procedure.

Responding to the rumor and the lawsuit filed by Melissa, Yorkville Endoscopy, the clinic where Joan went for the surgery, denied the allegation made by the actress.

Melissa seems to face great challenges in her attempt to know what happened during the surgery.

She writes a biography about her mom titled "The Book of Joan:Tales of Mirth, Mischief, and Manipulation".
