Netflix Orders TV Adaptation of Dr. Seuss' 'Green Eggs and Ham'

Ellen DeGeneres is producing the 13-episode animated series which is expected to arrive in 2018.

AceShowbiz - Netflix has picked up an animated series based on the best-selling 1960 book "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss. Netflix vice president of original content Cindy Holland announces the project in Dr. Seuss' style.

"We think this will be a hit Green Eggs and Ham is a perfect fit for our growing slate of amazing stories available exclusively in all Netflix territories. You can stream it on a phone. You can stream it on your own. You can stream it on TV. You can stream it globally."

Ellen DeGeneres is executive producing the 13-episode series, which is expected to arrive in 2018. She gushed over it on her talk show "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", "It's going to be cutting-edge animation: It's never been done on television before. It's very, very cool."

"Green Eggs and Ham" follows an unnamed character who is convinced by a character known as "Sam-I-Am" to try the titular meal in several locations. Voice cast for the TV adaptation has not been announced yet.

"The Lego Movie Sequel" co-writer Jared Stern will pen the script. He will also serve as an executive producer along with DeGeneres, Jeff Kleeman, Mike Karz and David Dobkin.
