Joss Whedon Pushed Marvel to Make New 'Daredevil' Movie Instead of TV Show

The 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' helmer reveals that he 'fought' Marvel to revive Matt Murdock for the big screen instead of rebooting the character for television.

AceShowbiz - Joss Whedon admits he was against Marvel's plan to bring Daredevil to the small screen. Instead of giving Matt Murdock a TV show, the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" director thought it would be better if the Man Without Fear was revived in a new movie.

"I fought for Daredevil to be a film instead of a TV show," Whedon opens up to IGN in a press tour for "The Avengers 2". "Then under the auspices of Drew Goddard and Steve DeKnight ... I'm dying to see the show but they released it just as I started the press tour!"

"If the show's working, the show's working. Comic books are serialized entertainment and a lot of them lend themselves to TV shows as much or more than they do to movies," he adds, before explaining why he's a big fan of Daredevil, "I like him because he's basically Marvel's Batman, thanks to Frank Miller basically. So for me I didn't think they'd be able to sustain that sort of mood on TV but TV has changed so much. It's come up so much that I think it might just be the right place."

Daredevil was played by Ben Affleck in a 2003 movie. The blind superhero is later portrayed by Charlie Cox in the Netflix series which premiered this April.
