John Stamos breaks the news that Netflix has greenlit the 13-episode series that will start with a one-hour reunion.

AceShowbiz - A "Full House" spin-off is officially coming to Netflix. John Stamos broke the news during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Monday night, April 20 that the streaming giant ordered 13 episodes of the new comedy titled "Fuller House".

"Five minutes ago, they called, they sealed the deal," Stamos said. "We've been working on this for many, many years. The original creator, Jeff Franklin... we were trying to do some sort of spin-off, we wanted to give credit to the legacy. So Netflix came around and said, 'Let's do thirteen episodes.' "

He revealed that the new show would start off with a one-hour reunion and would be followed with the spin-off focusing on DJ Tanner (Candace Cameron-Bure) and her three kids, along with her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and neighbor Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).

He confirmed that there had been discussions with the original cast, including Bob Saget, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, to return for the new comedy. "If we can't get the Olsen twins, we're gonna dress you up," Stamos jokingly told Jimmy Kimmel.

"As big fans of the original 'Full House', we are thrilled to be able to introduce Fuller House's new narrative to existing fans worldwide, who grew up on the original, as well as a new generation of global viewers that have grown up with the Tanners in syndication," Cindy Holland, Netflix vice president of original content, said in a statement announcing the "Fuller House" pick-up.
