Following Brown's statement on Bobbi Kristina's latest condition, Cissy Houston released a statement, saying that she's awake but has 'irreversible brain damage' and 'remains unresponsive.'

AceShowbiz - Cissy Houston spoke out on Monday, April 20 to clarify earlier statement on the current state of her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. The mother of the late Whitney Houston said in a statement that her grandchild was out of coma but suffered from "irreversible brain damage" and remained "unresponsive."

"I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive," so Houston said of Bobbi Kristina's current condition.

She added, "Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me. We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers."

The comment completely contradicts Bobby Brown's earlier statement during a Saturday night concert in Dallas. At that time, he said that Bobbi Kristina was "awake" and "watching" him. However, Brown then released a new statement via his representative on Monday to clarify his earlier statement.

"Bobbi Kristina's condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement," so the rep said. "Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come."

Brown also thanked fans for their prayers in the statement, "We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina and God is hearing our prayers."

Brown's wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown also weighed in on Monday, saying that Brown was in "an emotional condition" when telling the concertgoers about his daughter's condition.

"He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization on January 31. She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard," Etheredge-Brown said in the statement.
