The 'Idol' finalist sounds off on his argument with Harry in the Wednesday live show, saying, 'If you think I'm being rude, to be disrespectful back isn't right.'

AceShowbiz - Things got intense during "American Idol" live show on Wednesday night, April 15 when judge Harry Connick Jr. and one of the finalists, Quentin Alexander, got into an argument. The singing hopeful called the situation "whack" as one of his two friends was going to be sent home, and Harry was offended by his sentiment.

"If it's that whack, then you can always go home," Harry responded. "Because Idol is paying a lot of money to give you this experience and for you to say that to this hand that is feeding you right now, I think is highly disrespectful."

Quentin argued that he didn't call the show "whack," but it was "whack" that two of the best performers were in danger of being sent packing. "For my personal feelings, it sucks to see two people who I've grown to love go home. That's what I mean by it being wack. So I'm not disrespecting this competition," he explained.

Later after the show, Quentin tells PEOPLE about his statement, "In that moment, I was just being honest. I felt genuine emotion, and it came out," adding that he was upset that "two of the best vocalists," including his "best friend" Joey Cook, were in the bottom two.

Responding to Harry's comment, the 21-year-old singer says, "What kind of threw me off was how he said, 'If you think it is whack, you can go home.' If you think I'm being rude, to be disrespectful back isn't right. Two wrongs don't make a right. He said I could leave. I know I can leave. He can leave as well, but he chooses to be here because he loves to do what he's doing. And that's the same for me. Ryan [Seacrest] just asked how I was feeling, and I was honest. I was upset."

In the latest episode of "American Idol", Joey Cook was eliminated after landing in the bottom two along with Rayvon Owen. Rayvon won the Twitter Save and joined the rest of the remaining contestants in the Top 6.
