The founder of popular lifestyle website Goop will live on only $29 worth of food for seven days after accepting charity challenge from one of NYC Food Bank board members.

AceShowbiz - For seven days Gwyneth Paltrow will attempt to survive on just $29 food stamp budget. The decision to live on the budget which is based on Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) was made after the Oscar-winning actress accepted to join the "#FoodBankNYCChallange" from celebrity chef and NYC Food Bank board member Mario Batali.

The 42-year-old mother of two took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon, April 9 to announce that she was joining the charity challenge. She shared a picture showing a range of healthy food options that include cilantro, corn, limes, whole grain brown rice, some black beans and eggs.

Alongside the picture, she wrote, "This is what $29 gets you at the grocery store - what families on SNAP (i.e. food stamps) have to live on for a week."

Later in the day, she added on Twitter, "We're walking in their shoes to see how far we get." In the tweet Paltrow also challenged chef Roy to join the challenge and donate.

The "#FoodBankNYCChallange" is a challenge aimed at raising awareness about hunger and the struggle to live on only $29 per person for seven days. It is also meant to raise funds for the food bank. The participants are allowed to use coupons but they are forbidden to use food stock that was already at their homes or given to them by others.

"Every New Yorker can do something to end hunger," Batali said of the challenge in a video on his Twitter account on Friday, April 3. In addition to Paltrow, Batali challenged other celebrities, including Debbie Harry and English musician Sting.
