Producer John Stephens also talked about the evolution of Bruce Wayne character in the next chapter of the Batman prequel series.

AceShowbiz - There are still four episodes left in "Gotham" season 1, but the show's producers already shared tidbits from the upcoming season 2 at WonderCon this weekend. Appearing at the annual convention to promote the FOX series, producer John Stephens revealed that Mr. Freeze, Clayface and the Mad Hatter would be among the villains featured in season 2.

"We always want to walk the fine line of the reality of our world. Walking right up to that line where super-villains live. So there are a lot of characters from Batman lore that fit that bill. People like Victor Freeze - who's a science villain. You can play a lot of his abilities without going into the world of superheroes," he teased.

Stephens went on dishing, "Clayface and Mad Hatter are both villains we're going to bring in [as well]. They both have great backstories and great personalities. Clayface especially is a character I want to [explore the origin of]."

He added that he wanted to keep these characters fresh for fans who aren't familiar with the comic books. "It's something [he] keeps in mind when [he's] telling origin stories. There's so much media about these [characters] but [I] want to approach it in a fresh new way," he said.

Talking about the storylines, Stephens said season 2 might explore the evolution of Bruce Wayne character. "The Bruce Wayne we all know - there's a duality to his persona. There's 'Batman' and there's 'Bruce Wayne'. That fake playboy carefree Bruce Wayne [persona]," he enthused. "In season two, you're going to start to see that 'Bruce Wayne' persona develop as he starts to create a public face to hide who he actually is. So we get to watch that schism take place."

Stephens additionally said that "season 2 will explore (a bit) of the 'Jerome' story." Jerome, played by "Shameless" star Cameron Monaghan, was previously rumored to be the future Joker on the show.

Asked about the possible appearance of the Court of Owls, he replied, "The Court of Owls is something we've discussed a lot. We keep digging up very close to it without quite pulling the trigger. It's clear that there is a group of shadowy individuals that control and influence Wayne Enterprise and have great power in Gotham and may or may not be connected to Carmine Falcone. Is that The Court of Owls? Maybe... Keep watching and those questions will be answered."

Meanwhile, Robin Lord Taylor who plays Oswald Cobblepot revealed that his character would have a reunion with Jada Pinkett Smith's Fish Mooney when she returns to Gotham. He shared, "(They) have a reunion when she returns to Gotham. He learned everything about Gotham City from her. Even though that relationship is fraught and dramatic, Oswald still respects her."

"Gotham" returns with the remaining episodes starting Monday, April 13. Benjamin McKenzie said at the WonderCon that "the finale is almost chaos." He went on gushing, "Not everybody lives. Many people do not emerge, even if they do live, whole from the experience. There are guns blazin'. It's crazy!"
