Kelly Ousbourne Confesses to Having Cancer Gene, Surgery May Become Her Preventive Choice
Celebrity

Kelly Osbourne revealed in the Tuesday, March 24 episode of 'The Talk' that she has the BRCA1 gene which puts her at a high risk for both breast and ovarian cancers.

AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie had just undergone preventive surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes after knowing that she might have an early form of cancer. Now, Kelly Osbourne, whose mom Sharon Osbourne battled cancer in the past, is faced with the same decisions as a child of cancer survivor. "My mom made all of us get tested after she found out that she had it and got her double mastectomy," she shared her story on "The Talk" on Tuesday, March 24.

Osbourne made a shocking statement that she actually has cancer gene, specifically the BRCA1 gene which puts her at a high risk for both breast and ovarian cancers. She made the revelation when the hosts discussed Jolie's brave decision. "I actually do have the cancer gene," she confessed. This reason seems to be the one which made her the latest celebrity to support Jolie's decision to have her ovaries removed.

The 30-year-old actress completely agreed about the decision and even stated that one day she might do the same thing Jolie had done. "I agree with this 100 percent. I know that one day I will eventually have to do it too because if I have children, I want to be there to bring them up. I want to be there to support them in every way I can," she went on sharing. Osbourne really appreciated Brad Pitt's wife's decision by saying, "It's something I applaud Angelina for because she's bringing attention to this, and people are now going to go out and get tested for it."

Sharon Osbourne successfully fought colon cancer in 2002, and had a double mastectomy years later after discovering that she had the breast cancer gene. "As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought, 'The odds are not in my favor,' " she said. "I decided to just take everything off."
