'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' to Start Production in New York City Next Month

The sequel to 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' will occupy the Big Apple for filming starting in April for a planned June 3, 2016 release.

AceShowbiz - The sequel to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is getting ready for production. The film is expected to begin filming in New York City and Buffalo in April. The production is estimated to spend $70 million with $63 million spent in the Big Apple.

"New York City knows how to host blockbuster films," said Mayor de Blasio. "We welcome 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' to New York City, and look forward to the many jobs and tens of millions of jobs this will bring to our local economy."

The first movie starred Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Will Arnett as her co-wroker, and William Fichtner as villainous Shredder. Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello were motion-captured by Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, and Jeremy Howard respectively. Meanwhile, Pete Ploszek played Leonardo on set and Johnny Knoxville voiced the character.

The first installment was directed by Jonathan Liebesman, while this second one is expected to be helmed by David Green. Rumors suggested nefarious characters like Bebop & Rocksteady and Krang would be introduced in the next one which is due June 3, 2016.
