AceShowbiz - AMC's comic book adaptation "Preacher" has found a leading lady. "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." actress Ruth Negga is cast on the pilot from "The Interview" director duo Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg and showrunner Scott Catlin ("Breaking Bad").
It follows Texas reverend Jesse Custer, who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven. Along with his ex-girlfriend Tulip O'Hare and an Irish vampire, the conflicted preacher embarks on a journey to find God with an immortal foe hot on their trail. Negga is tapped to play the gun-toting ex-girlfriend.
The story is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's cult 1990s comic book. HBO previously attempted to adapt the graphic novel with "Daredevil" director Mark Steven Johnson at the helm, but the project eventually fell apart.
