AceShowbiz - Pharrell Williams has been chosen as the winner of the 2015 CFDA Fashion Icon Award. The "Come Get It Bae" singer will be honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America on June 1 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City.

CFDA's president Diane von Furstenberg said in a statement on Wednesday, March 18, "If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness. I cannot imagine anyone not seduced by him."

Pharrell expressed his happiness on Twitter, posting, "Wow. Thank You!" along with a smiley emoji.

According to the CFDA, the Fashion Icon Award annually goes to "an individual whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage." Last year's recipient was Rihanna, who wore the nipples and booty-baring see-through Adam Selman dress to collect her award. Other past winners include Johnny Depp, Lady GaGa, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman.

In other news, Pharrell has partnered with the United Nations Foundation, with support from Google, to promote UN's International Day of Happiness on Friday, March 20. Pharrell will be encouraging people to sign the eco group's petition urging global leaders to adopt a new climate accord, with the hopes of garnering 1 billion signatures before a conference in Paris in December.

Pharrell is also inviting people to join a "Global Happy Party" by uploading their photos which will then be combined into a massive animated GIF set to his hit song "Happy." He posted on Instagram, "Join me at globalhappyparty.com! Upload your photos, make a GIF, and dance with the whole world to make this a #HappyPlanet."

We believe that happiness can change the world."
