A representative for the British singer admits it was a Dolce and Gabbana bag he was carrying but insists he hasn't shopped at the designers' store since the boycott.

AceShowbiz - Elton John was pictured carrying a bag with a Dolce and Gabbana tag on it after urging fans to boycott the Italian fashion house. The photo was reportedly taken on Monday, March 16 when the singer went to a recording studio in Los Angeles.

John's representative initially claimed the picture was digitally-altered. "This picture has been photoshopped he was NOT carrying that bag," they told the Daily Mirror. "He was carrying a BLACK BRIEF CASE !"

Hours later, the rep retracted statement by confirming that the Rocket Man was indeed "carrying a DG bag." They added, "It seems it was an old bag with food in it had no clothes from DG in it."

In a separate statement to the Daily Mail, the representative explained, "Yes he was carrying the bag but he hadn't been shopping. And it should not detract from their original message or the boycott."

The designers who are openly gay came under fire for calling children born via in vitro and surrogate mother "synthetic." Backlash came from singers like Elton John and Ricky Martin, tennis player Martina Navratilova, TV producer Ryan Murphy, and TV host Andy Cohen.

"Shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF - a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children," John said. "Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again."

Singer-turned-designer Victoria Adams also supports John and his family, "Sending love to Elton David Zachary Elijah & all the beautiful IVF babies." John is the godfather of Victoria's sons Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham.
