Chace Crawford Cast as the Lead on ABC's Pilot 'Boom'
TV

Crawford is cast as Billy, a 'handsome and ambitious, with moxie and savvy to burn, a born hustler who trusts to his luck and his quick wits.'

AceShowbiz - Chace Crawford is heading back to TV as ABC has cast him as the lead of its upcoming pilot "Boom". The part will mark his first leading role on the small screen since The CW's hit series "Gossip Girl" ended back in 2012.

Produced by Tony Krantz, written by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne, and directed by Jonas Pate, "Boom" revolves its story around "the biggest oil discovery in American history which has triggered a geopolitical shift and an economic boom in North Dakota on a scale not seen since the 1849 California Gold Rush." Crawford will be playing the role of Billy, who alongside his partner Kelly, has an "epic pligrimage" to the oil fields of the Bakken "seeking their fortune and a better life," Deadline reports.

The character of Billy is described as "handsome and ambitious, with moxie and savvy to burn, a born hustler who trusts to his luck and his quick wits. After a road accident leaves him and Kelly stranded on foot, broke and heavily in debt, he gets wind of a big deal, and moves fast to secure an impregnable position for himself - but in so doing, he's betting his life." Chace joins previously announced cast Don Johnson and Delroy Lindo.
