Movie

Spencer is in final negotiations to take on the role in the upcoming Lionsgate feature set to be directed by Stuart Hazeldine.

AceShowbiz - It looks like Octavia Spencer's star is shining even brighter following her 2012 Oscar win as she has been in final negotiations to play God in Lionsgate's upcoming film "The Shack". Based on the 2007 William P. Young novel, the story focuses on "a man whose youngest daughter is abducted during a family vacation, with evidence found in an abandoned shack leading authorities to believe she was murdered. Four years later, the man receives a note, apparently from God, inviting him back to the shack and, against his better judgment, he accepts the invitation and finds something there that will change his life forever."

No other cast members have been named. Production on the film is set to be kicked off later this spring with Stuart Hazeldine directing, and Gil Netter and Brad Cummings producing, Variety reports. Release date has not yet been set.

Octavia Spencer won a Best Supporting Oscar for her role in "The Help". She also starred in "Black or White" and can next be seen in "The Divergent Series: Insurgent" and "Fathers and Daughters".
