The original Captain Kirk depicter laments the fact that he won't be able to attend the funeral of his former 'Star Trek' co-star due to prior commitments.

AceShowbiz - William Shatner will miss Leonard Nimoy's funeral scheduled for Sunday, March 1. "I am currently in FL as I agreed to appear at the Red Cross Ball tonight. Leonard's funeral is tomorrow. I can't make it back in time," the actor tweeted.

"I feel really awful. Here I am doing charity work and one of my dearest friends is being buried," Shatner continued. He shared screen with Nimoy in the original "Star Trek" movie series. He played Captain Kirk and his late pal portrayed his sidekick Spock.

Since he would not be able to attend the funeral, Shatner told his followers, "So maybe tomorrow we come together here and celebrate his life. So let's spend some time tomorrow celebrating Leonard's life and remembering the man. Until tomorrow! #LLAP," signing his message with Spock's iconic "Live long and prosper" message.

Leonard Nimoy died at the age of 83 Friday morning, February 27 at his home in Los Angeles after battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease due to his long history of smoking. His passing came a few days after he was hospitalized at UCLA Medical Center for severe chest pains.

"I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love," Shatner tweeted in the wake of Nimoy's death. "I am so humbled by the worldwide outpouring of love that has been displayed; words cannot express my feelings."
