Imagine Dragons Scores First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With 'Smoke + Mirrors'

The Las Vegas-based rockers' sophomore effort kicks Drake's surprise mixtape 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late' from this week's Billboard 200's top spot.

AceShowbiz - Imagine Dragons' "Smoke + Mirrors" has officially opened at No. 1 on Billboard 200. The Las Vegas-based band's second studio effort, which becomes their first album to top the chart, debuts with 195,000 equal units comprising of 172,000 pure album sales.

The group previously visited Billboard 200 in 2012, when their first full-length "Night Visions" opened at No. 2 with 83,000. According to Billboard, the album has sold 2.5 million copies and has never left the list since being released 129 weeks ago.

Trailing behind Dan Reynolds and Co.'s newest album is last week's first placer, Drake's "If You're Reading This It's Too Late". The mixtape, which arrived earlier this month without prior notice, falls to No. 2 with additional 187,000 units. The project has sold a total of 624,000 copies since being released less than 2 weeks ago.

At No. 3, the soundtrack of "Fifty Shades of Grey" slips from No. 2 with 165,000. Taylor Swift's "1989", meanwhile, jumps one rung to No, 4 with 93,000. The former country star's BFF Ed Sheeran closes out the top 5 as his "X" descends from last week's No. 4 with 81,000.

At No. 6 is another British singer Sam Smith. His acclaimed album "In the Lonely Hour" falls from No. 3 with 72,000. Maroon 5' "V" lands at No. 7 with 47,000 while Meghan Trainor's "Title" dips to No. 8 with 44,000.

The last two spots in the top 10 are occupied by Nicki Minaj's "The Pinkprint" which rises to No. 9 from last week's No. 12 with 41,000 and Hozier's self-titled set that climbs one rung to No. 10 with 40,000.
