In addition to Egerton casting story, the new report reveals alleged details from the upcoming project which is set for release next year.

AceShowbiz - The "Star Wars" standalone movie apparently is eyeing another actor for a potential male lead role. According to a report from The Sun, Taron Egerton is wanted by Lucasfilm to play Han Solo in untitled stand-alone Star Wars film. In addition to the story, the report mentions that the upcoming movie will reveal how the character made famous by Harrison Ford acquires the Millennium Falcon and his clash with Jabba The Hut.

Egerton is not the only star who is rumored for the role. Previously, Aaron Paul was linked to the movie, but he denied it. "Who's starting these rumors? This one is actually making me believe I have a job in 2015. Very exciting. #StarWars," the "Breaking Bad" star tweeted in early January.

There are two other "Star Wars" standalone movies which are scheduled to be released between the main movies. The first untitled stand-alone Star Wars film will be directed by Gareth Edwards and is set for release in the U.S. on December 16, 2016. The second standalone movie will be directed by "The Fantastic Four" helmer Josh Trank and is set for release in 2018, while the third is planned for the next year.

Meanwhile, fans are currently waiting for the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" which is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on December 18. "I can't wait for you to see it. It's been a blast working on this and luckily we have an incredible post-production team," director J.J. Abrams told BBC on Thursday, February 19.

Speaking to the news outlet, Abrams also confirmed that some rumors swirling among fans were true. "We did the best we can to preserve the story for the audience, but it doesn't always work," he said of leaked plot details. "There are a ton of rumors - some true, some false. But I'm grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie. I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars fan myself."
