'Mission: Impossible V' Continues Production After Script Was Rewritten

The super spy movie which is set for release on July 31 is now resuming production after the team finished rewriting the script due to an alleged unsatisfactory ending.

AceShowbiz - Production for "Mission: Impossible V" has taken a short break to figure out the movie's ending. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the production was halted for "a week or so" so that the team could come up with new idea for the ending. EW, however, says the movie is already moving forward with the finale and is currently filming in London.

Previously, THR said that director Christopher McQuarrie was working with "a writer friend whose identity remains a mystery and who will neither be paid nor credited" to improve the finale. A source claimed that the director was "scrambling" to work on it, but another source downplayed the story, saying, "Chris, Tom and a third person wanted to take a minute to get from what they thought was a good place to a more perfect place."

Paramount, however, reportedly feels positive despite the halt. "Are you kidding? We made 'World War Z'," an executive joked. The movie starring Brad Pitt was pushed back several times due to major rewrites before being released in 2013.

McQuarrie has reacted on Twitter. Without commenting on the story, he gave a shout out to THR from the set.

The follow-up to "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol" was previously set for release in December, but it was moved up to July 31. In addition to Tom Cruise, it stars Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin and Jeremy Renner.
