Bill O'Reilly Reacts to Accusations That He Fabricated His Falklands War Reporting
TV

O'Reilly blasts David Corn who criticized the TV host for misleading people with his comments that suggested he covered the Falkland battle from the war zone.

AceShowbiz - Bill O'Reilly insists he's not lying about his reporting on the Falklands War in 1982. The Fox News host was accused by MSNBC contributor David Corn of pulling a Brian Williams, but he denies the accusations and fires back at Corn by calling him a liar.

O'Reilly, during numerous occasions when reliving his past experiences as a journalist, gave an impression that he was on the Falkland Islands when covering the war between Britain and Argentina. In his 2001 book, he said, "I've reported on the ground in active war zones from El Salvador to the Falklands."

In a 2013 comment, O'Reilly also said, "I was in a situation one time, in a war zone in Argentina, in the Falklands, where my photographer got run down and then hit his head and was bleeding from the ear on the concrete. And the army was chasing us. I had to make a decision. And I dragged him off..."

Corn argued that no U.S. reporters ever got to the war zone when the fighting took place. In his article on Mother Jones magazine, he said he tried to react out to O'Reilly and Fox for comment regarding the matter but received none.

"Because David Corn is a guttersnipe liar," O'Reilly told The Washington Post the reason why he wouldn't respond to Corn's request for comment. "For years he's been trying to get Fox News. I would never speak to the man about anything at any time. He's a disgusting piece of garbage."

In his own defense, O'Reilly claimed Corn misunderstood his statements, "Nobody was on the Falklands and I never said I was on the island, ever." What he meant with "war zone in the Falklands" was, the TV host said, street demonstrations in Buenos Aires that happened after the war.

Corn responded to The Guardian, "O'Reilly more than once said he was in a war zone. But the war was on an island. It was not in Buenos Aires. It's like saying you were in a war zone during the Vietnam War because you were in Washington."
