AceShowbiz - The female lead role in the highly anticipated flick "Deadpool" has been won by Morena Baccarin. She won over the part from some other candidates that included Taylor Schilling, Crystal Reed, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Sarah Greene, and Jessica De Gouw.

Baccarin will thus star opposite Ryan Reynolds, portraying his love interest who "grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face," The Hollywood Reporter has reported. Both stars would be joined by T.J. Miller and Gina Carano who already on board to star in.

"Deadpool", which is of action-adventure genre, is based on a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Tim Miller is on hand directing, with Simon Kinberg is producing alongside Lauren Shuler Donner. The flick itself is slated for an early 2016 release.

Best recognized for her starring role as Inara Serra in the series "Firefly", Morena Baccarin could next be seen acting in action-comedy film "Spy". The 35-year-old actress currently stars as Dr. Leslie Thompkins on FOX's crime series "Gotham".
