In the upcoming episode titled 'Connection Lost', Claire communicates with her family through social media while she's away from home.

AceShowbiz - An upcoming episode of "Modern Family" will reflect how technology has changed the way modern American families communicate today. The hit sticom will air on Wednesday, February 25 an episode that is shot entirely on mobile devices.

The plot for the episode titled "Connection Lost" finds Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) communicating with her family through social media while she's away from home. As she realizes that she can't reach her daughter Haley (Sarah Hyland) after a fight, she FaceTimes different members of the Pritchett clan in a frantic dash to locate her party-loving daughter.

Series co-creator Steve Levitan said he came up with the idea of the storyline when he was FaceTiming with his own daughter. "I have two daughters at college, and we do a lot of FaceTiming," he shared. "One day I was on my computer, and I had some emails open, and some websites, and then my daughter showed up. But I couldn't only see her, but I could see me."

"I realized that on that screen, you can tell so much about life," he continued, revealing that the episode was also partly influenced by 17-minute short film "Noah", which his daughter told him about. Created by the Canadian film students Walter Woodman and Patrick Cederberg, the short film is set entirely on the titular character's computer screen.

Levitan also insisted that the episode is not an Apple endorsement though it's shot entirely on iPhone 6s, iPads and MacBook Pros. "There's no product placement or anything," he claimed, "This just came from life, and it made sense."
