One of the group's former members Lance Bass made it clear before the Sunday show that he and his pals had no intention to perform or appear in a skit.

AceShowbiz - NSYNC's fans went into a frenzy on Saturday, February 14 when rumors ran rampant that the boyband would reunite for the 40th anniversary special of "Saturday Night Live". They, however, were left disappointed when the group didn't perform during the three-and-a-half-hour show airing on Sunday night.

It turns out that the fans missed an update from former member Lance Bass who made it clear that he and his former bandmates never planned any reunion. Earlier on Sunday, he sent out a tweet saying, "For the record , we are not performing or doing a skit tonight on SNL. But look hard for us in he audience! Fun night ahead! #SNL40."

Most of the dudes of NSYNC did make it to the "SNL" special, though. Justin Timberlake was the only former member who participated on the show, appearing with Jimmy Fallon. Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick were pictured hitting the red carpet together. Bass was also spotted posing for a photo with former "SNL" cast member Cheri Oteri.

JC Chasez, meanwhile, chose not to attend the event. According to E! News, his sister-in-law just gave birth and he decided to be with his family instead.
