An executive at The Eye explains that the promo airing during the recent episode is actually for the season finale, not the series finale.

AceShowbiz - "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" is not coming to an end. A CBS executive takes it to Twitter to set the record straight after a promo for a so-called "series finale" airing during the recent episode of the long-running forensic procedural show sent fans into frenzy.

"Dear Twitter chatter. Eyeliner graphic promoting this weekend's #CSI mistakenly said 'Series Finale.' It's the 'Season Finale,' " Chris Ender wrote. "We would never cancel a show in a promo five days before broadcast, especially one that has been this important to the Network."

"CSI" first premiered in 2000 and is currently in its 15th season. It has since spawned spinoffs like "CSI: Miami", "CSI: NY", and the upcoming "CSI: Cyber". George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, and Robert David Hall are among the mainstays in the cast ensemble.
