The 'Rock and Roll (Part 2)' hitmaker is facing life imprisonment for unlawful sex with minor after being found guilty of the offense in a London court.

AceShowbiz - A jury found Gary Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, guilty of sex abuses he committed years ago during the peak of his career. The 1970s rock star, now 70 years old, was convicted of one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.

He looked stunned at first as the verdicts were returned, but he later shrugged his shoulders and blew a kiss to a gallery of reporters. After he was remanded in custody, it was revealed that authorities were investigating fresh allegations against him involving at least another former fan.

"Paul Gadd has shown himself to be a habitual sexual predator who took advantage of the star status afforded to him by targeting young girls who trusted him and were in awe of his fame," Det. Chief Insp. Michael Orchard said. "His lack of remorse and defense that the victims were lying makes his crimes all the more indefensible."

"I would like to commend the bravery of the victims for coming forward. The courage and strength required to report allegations of this nature cannot be underestimated and, without their testimonials, we would have no case to bring to court."

Glitter famous for his hit single "Rock & Roll (Part 2)" was convicted by a jury of five men and seven women at a London court after a two-week trial. He will return to court to be sentenced on February 27. Under British law, he is facing a life imprisonment for unlawful sex with a minor.

Before the case was adjourned for sentence, his lawyer said, "Mr. Gadd has followed a specific programme under the auspices of somebody trained in that field. It would help if your lordship had access to that material." The lawyer, however, did not elaborate what programme the rocker had followed.

Gary Glitter was arrested in October 2012 following the investigation of late BBC presenter Jimmy Savile's child sex abuse case. Savile and "others" became the target of Operation Yewtree, and Glitter was the first arrest made in connection with the abuse inquiry. Back in 2006, he was also convicted and imprisoned on child abuse charges in Vietnam.
