Cox will be starring as Tamra's cousin 'who helps Mindy Kaling's character get her confidence back.'

AceShowbiz - Currently enjoying a hiatus from her hit TV show "Orange Is the New Black", Laverne Cox has been confirmed to guest star in an episode of "The Mindy Project". The 30-year-old star is set to portray the role of Tamra's [Xosha Roquemore] cousin "who helps Mindy Kaling's character get her confidence back," E! News reports.

Cox is best recognized in the showbiz for her starring role as Sophia Burset on the Netflix crime comedy drama series "Orange Is the New Black". The part earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, making her the first openly transgender person to be nominated for the coveted nod. "Orange Is the New Black" is set return for a third season later this year.

In other "The Mindy Project" news, the series' creator and leading star Mindy Kaling herself has confirmed that there would be another star coming. "We have a guest star coming up this spring that I think is the single biggest, most exciting guest star we've ever had and I can't say who it is," so she revealed to E! Online. "No, I can't! But I'm really, really excited about it," she said when being asked to offer a hint on the mystery guest star.
