The 'Jealous' singer lands a recurring role on the upcoming horror-comedy anthology series, while the 'Broadchurch' star is cast as the villainous Kilgrave on the Marvel project.

AceShowbiz - Nick Jonas and David Tennant have landed new acting gigs on different projects. The former is cast in a recurring role for FOX's upcoming horror-comedy anthology series "Scream Queens", while the latter lands a villainous role on "Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones" which is in development at Netflix.

Details on Jonas' character are still kept under wraps. The 15-episode season 1 of the new series from Ryan Murphy will take place in a sorority house as a series of murders rocks a college campus. The former Jonas Brothers member, who still stars on DirecTV's "Kingdom", joins the star-studded cast that includes Lea Michele, Joe Manganiello, Ariana Grande, Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The project is scheduled to begin production in the spring for a fall premiere.

Tennant, who is known as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor on "Doctor Who", will play Kilgrave a.k.a. The Purple Man on Netflix's "Jessica Jones". In the comic books, the character is described as "an enigmatic figure from Jessica's past" and his reappearance "will send shockwaves through the former superhero's world."

"I'm so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character," Melissa Rosenberg, showrunner and executive producer of "Jessica Jones", says in a statement. "He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He'll make Kilgrave a truly original villain."

Jeph Loeb, executive producer on the series and Marvel's head of television, adds, "Anyone familiar with David's work knows he brings an incredible level of dedication to any role he inhabits, a level we knew we would need from the man playing Kilgrave. While most know him for his roles as a hero, we can't wait to unleash a whole new side of this talented actor."

Krysten Ritter has been cast as the title character who, after hanging her superhero costume due to post-traumatic stress disorder, now works as a private investigator. Mike Colter will star as Luke Cage on the 13-episode drama, which marks second series developed as part of Netflix-Marvel deal after "Daredevil".
