Miss Colombia Paulina Vega Named the New Miss Universe

The 22-year-old beauty has been crowned as the winner of the 63rd Miss Universe pageant held at Florida International University in Miami.

AceShowbiz - The winner of Miss Universe 2014 has been unveiled. Miss Colombia Paulina Vega was presented with crown by last year's winner Gabriela Isler of Venezuela after beating out contestants from other 88 countries during the 63rd Annual Miss Universe Pageant.

During the event, held at Florida International University in Miami on Sunday, January 25, Miss Argentina and Miss Jamaica were announced as the fifth and fourth runner-up respectively. The third runner-up was Miss Netherlands and the second was Miss Ukraine. Miss USA Nia Sanchez became the first runner-up.

When asked about the greatest contribution of her country to the entire world, Paulina answered, "My country has been an example for the rest of the countries. We are persevering people no matter what is in our way. We continue fighting for what we want to accomplish."

The other top five contestants were also asked with the same question. Miss USA said, "We have a wonderful influence to the world. We help other countries as much as we can." Miss Netherlands responded, "A lot of art and history."

Miss Ukraine told the audience, "We have a very difficult situation in our country. And right now the most important contribution is to direct all our energies to the army and our people. We have to restore schools, kindergartens and orphanages." Miss Jamaica, meanwhile, replied, "Well. as we all know, we are the home to Bob Marley and the fastest man trailblazing the Jamaican flag."

Paulina also impressed the judges with her answer when asked about what women could learn from men. "I believe there's still men that do believe in equality," she said, "I believe that's what woman should learn from men."
