AceShowbiz - Stephen Collins and his wife of nearly 30 years Faye Grant have settled their divorce. On Friday, January 23, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael J. Convey approved a divorce judgment which ended the couple's marriage.
Stephen and Faye's judgment calls for every copy of Stephen's audio recordings in which he confessed to child molestation must be destroyed except two original copies possessed by Faye. Both of the copies will be kept under lock and key for 10 years by Stephen's lawyer Shawn Holley, who also represents celebrities like Justin Bieber and Lindsay Lohan.
Shawn will only release the two copies if the former couple needs to defend themselves from a civil or criminal case.
According to the judgment, the "7th Heaven" alum will not have to pay Faye any spousal support but she will get some of his pension plan and investment income per month. According to PEOPLE, Stephen and Faye's settlement which includes a 50/50 split of the sale of their Brentwood homes will let them avoid a public trial.
Stephen filed for divorce from Faye in 2012 but the case became the center of attention since his molestation scandal emerged in October 2014. The actor later admitted to have sexually abused three underage girls in an interview with PEOPLE in December. "Forty years ago, I did something terribly wrong that I deeply regret. I have been working to atone for it ever since."
In another interview with Katie Couric, Stephen insisted he's not a pedophile although he had molested three underage girls in the past. "I do not fit either the clinical or dictionary definition of it," he said, "A pedophile is someone who is mainly or wholly attracted to children. I'm not. I had a distortion in my thinking where I acted out in those ways. But I'm absolutely not attracted, physically or sexually attracted to children. I'm just not."
