The British actor sports a Victorian cape and Sherlock's iconic deerstalker hat as he's shooting scenes for the detective series with co-stars Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington.

AceShowbiz - Benedict Cumberbatch is back to work filming "Sherlock" after being busy working on several movies. On Thursday, January 22, the Oscar-nominated actor was spotted shooting an episode of the detective drama series at Gloucester Cathedral in Britain.

Rocking a Victorian cape and a deerstalker hat his character is famous for, he was seen walking with co-star Amanda Abbington who also wore a period garb. His on-screen friend Martin Freeman was also snapped on the set, sporting a curled-up mustache.

"Sherlock" will likely return with a special, which they are currently filming, this year. A three-episode season 4 will be shot later this year and will probably air in 2016.

Martin Freeman recently admitted that filming the show while being surrounded by hundreds of fans was like trying to act at a red carpet premiere. Series co-creator Mark Gatiss had a similar opinion, saying, "When we were filming Baker Street exteriors last time, the fact you've got about 300 people behind crash barriers is... interesting. First of all it gives a lot away, which is a shame, but also just in terms of concentration it's hard when you feel like you're being observed by more than just the crew."

Some fans agreed that people should stay away from the set during the filming. A fan from Mexico said, "Actors and crew should have the freedom to work without people spying on them and spreading spoilers about what and how and when and where they do it. You don't spy on people working on the streets, do you? Nor tweet about how their job is done, right? If you did, they would also ask you to step back in order to get some privacy."

Another fan named Natasha Stockwell said, "I don't know why people can't let the actors and crew get on with filming. They're distracting the actors from their job just by being there. They're spoiling upcoming episodes of 'Sherlock' not just for themselves, but for everyone else as well."

Kate Lagana added, "They're interfering with how scenes are shot, which has to hurt the integrity of the piece. Hell, if nice guy Martin Freeman actually goes out of his way to say he's kind of bothered - translation GO HOME."
