The Kim Jong-Un assassination comedy will be available for stream starting Saturday, January 24, just a week after its theatrical release.

AceShowbiz - "The Interview" will be made available for viewing on Netflix. The comedy about the assassination plot of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un is scheduled to begin streaming on the digital service for North American subscribers this coming Saturday, January 24.

"We are thrilled to offer exclusively the controversial comedy, The Interview, to our US and Canadian members beginning this Saturday 24 January - just thirty days after it debuted in theaters and pay-per-view," the company said in a statement.

The release of the film starring Seth Rogen and James Franco was briefly halted in December after a group of hackers attacking Sony Pictures threatened terrorist-style attacks on any cinemas showing the movie. FBI named North Korea as the culprit behind the cyber attack, but the country vehemently denied it although they approved of it as a "righteous deed."

Public support prompted the studio to move forward with the release on the holidays and even extend it to online services by making it available on Google Play and YouTube Movies. It has since raked in $40M from 5.8 million rentals on the digital platforms and $6M in ticket sales from more than 200 indie theaters.

At the recent Television Critics Association press tour to promote new sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat", Randall Park who played the North Korean dictator said, "I was never worried for my safety or getting hacked or any of that during that whole process."

"Right after the movie came out, everything kind of died down and I was trying to piece everything together in my head," he said. "I still haven't fully kind of pieced everything together as to what that whole experience meant to me. I was just really glad the movie came out and that in the end people got to see [it]."
