The 'Mr. Turner' cinematographer says he has been 'called a lot worse' and doesn't 'think twice about' the mispronunciation of his name by the Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs.

AceShowbiz - Who guessed that Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) president Cheryl Boone Isaacs would make the same embarrassing mistake like John Travolta did at last year's Oscars. During the 2015 Academy Award nominations reading on early Thursday, January 15, Isaacs botched Dick Pope's name, calling him "Dick Poop" before correcting herself.

Many people soon took to Twitter to poke fun at the gaffe and Pope himself has reacted to his name flub. Speaking to USA Today over the phone from London, the cinematographer who is recognized for his work on "Mr. Turner" said, "You know what, I have been called a lot worse in my time." Seemingly not getting annoyed by the mispronunciation of his name, Pope added, "I don't think twice about anything like that... I feel sorry for the lady who made the mispronunciation."

Pope admitted that he did not watch the Oscar nominations announcement, but he got a lot of calls from friends who informed him about the nomination and his name flub. "I was there amid all the work that we evoked in the film," he said. "And I was there when my phone started ringing. I came out and I was told the news."

"I am happy to be nominated," he shared his feelings about being nominated in Best Cinematography category. Staying humble, he said the achievement was because the great work of the team behind the film. "We're all very happy. It's wonderful news. But I represent a whole company and the whole film," he said. "I represent the people who work on it. We are all very pleased. Delighted."

Following the name flub, #DickPoop became a trending topic on Twitter. Andy Cohen tweeted to Billy Eichner, "@billyeichner are you excited about Dick Poop's nomination!!??" The comedian replied, "Honestly this wasn't Dick Poop's best work but it feels like a career award."

Sony Classics, meanwhile, used the gaffe to highlight Pope's great work, posting a picture from the movie along with a caption which read, "Laugh all you want. This man makes magic. #DickPoop #MrTurner."
