Cruise will reunite with 'Edge of Tomorrow' director Doug Liman for crime movie 'Mena', while Krasinski will headline Michael Bay-directed '13 Hours' which is inspired by a true story.

AceShowbiz - Tom Cruise may reunite with "Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman in his next movie. The A-list actor and the helmer are reportedly in talks to team up for "Mena", a 1980s drug thriller being developed at Universal Pictures and Cross Creek Pictures.

The project initially had Ron Howard attached as director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film tells the story of "Barry Seal, a fired TWA pilot who became a major drug smuggler for the Medellin Cartel. He was later recruited by the DEA and CIA to provide intelligence, with his work tying to the Iran Contra scandal. He was assassinated by Colombians in 1986."

Casting report also comes from Paramount's "13 Hours". Variety reports that John Krasinski is currently in negotiations to star in the movie to be directed by Michael Bay which recounts the attack on the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012.

The script is penned by Chuck Hogan based on Mitchell Zuckoff's book "Thirteen Hours: A Firsthand Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi". According to the book's description, "a team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack."

"The Office" alum Krasinski will play one of the lead roles, a Navy SEAL.

Cruise is currently filming "Mission: Impossible V" which is due December 25 in the U.S. Meanwhile, Krasinski can next be seen in an untitled Cameron Crowe project which has an all-star cast including Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Danny McBride, Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray among others.
