AceShowbiz - Madonna is one of those celebrities supporting Je Suis Charlie ("I am Charlie" in French) following the shooting at the Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris. She recently took to Instagram to share several photos related to the tragedy that killed 12 people, but her posts later drew criticism as she featured #rebelheart and #livingforlove in the captions.
Madge Instagrammed earlier this week one image simply featuring the words "Je Suis Charlie" written in white letters against a black backdrop. "These are very scary times we are living in. Ignorance breeds Intolerance and fear. We can only fight darkness with light! We are all Charlie! #revolutionoflove #rebelhearts," she wrote.
Another picture showing people holding "Je Suis Charlie" signs in the streets of Paris came along with the caption that read, "We must respect AlL religions! But we must also RESPECT human life!! Killing in the name of G*D is man's idea not G*D's!!!!#livingforlove #rebelheart."
Some people thought that Madonna used the shooting incident as an opportunity to promote her new music. As fans know, her album is called "Rebel Heart" and her new single is "Living for Love".
Last week, the 56-year-old iconic singer was also accused of using tragedies to promote her music after she Instagrammed the photoshopped images of black leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela with her signature black cords from her "Rebel Heart" album cover across their faces.
Responding to the backlash, she said, "I'm sorry. I'm not comparing myself to anyone. I'm admiring and acknowledging there (sic) Rebel Hearts. This is neither (sic) a crime or an insult or racist!... Am I saying I am them? NO. I'm saying they are Rebel Hearts too."
