It will be the directorial debut of Laika President and CEO Travis Knight.

Written by Chris Butler and Marc Haimes ("ParaNorman"), the animated feature set in a mythical ancient Japan will focus on scruffy, kindhearted Kubo who embarks on an adventure against a spirit from the past who catches up with him to enforce an age-old vendetta. A magical suit of armor once worn by his father, the greatest samurai the world has ever known, will be the key to his survival.
