The British DJ's collaboration with Bruno Mars 'Uptown Funk' tops the singles chart in the U.K although it wasn't supposed to be released in the territory until next month.

AceShowbiz - Mark Ronson has reached a new peak on Billboard Hot 100 with "Uptown Funk", his collaboration with Bruno Mars. Released in the U.S in early November, the track recently moved from No.3 to No. 5 on the all-genre singles chart.

The '80s-inspired funk/R&B song has also hit the top spot of singles chart in the U.K. It debuted at No. 1 although it was not supposed to arrive in the territory until early 2015. Ronson rushed-released the single after a contestant of "The X Factor" named Fleur East performed a cover of the track during the show. Her version immediately topped iTunes and that's when Ronson decided to put out his.

"I realized this girl's [East's] cover's going to come out before our own. So yeah, for a minute I was a little bit annoyed and then we kind of rushed ours, which is good 'cause I think whatever it took to get the song out," the British DJ explained in a recent interview with NME.

"Uptown Funk" serves as the lead single off Ronson's upcoming fourth album "Uptown Special". Set for release in January 2015, the LP also features contributions from Stevie Wonder whom he described as his " favorite musician, singer, songwriter ever."

"It's the biggest deal of my life," Ronson told U.K.'s MTV News of getting to work together with his idol. "To have him play on the record [is amazing]."

He then revealed how the collaboration happened, explaining, "I sent him a song and months had gone by and I didn't know if he was going to play, and then one night I looked at my email inbox and it was a dropbox link of a Stevie harmonica session... I then sat for half an hour looking at the screen and listening to it."
