The 67-year-old English singer-songwriter will tie the knot with his longtime partner following the same-sex marriage legalization in England.

AceShowbiz - Elton John is set to say "I do" with his longtime partner David Furnish this weekend. Elton's spokesman Gary Farrow told the Associated Press on Wednesday, December 17 that the weekend ceremony would be private.

After the same-sex marriage was legalized in England in March, Elton discussed his upcoming nuptials with David. "We'll do it very quietly," he told "Today" host Matt Lauer. "But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children."

"I'm very proud of Britain and the laws that we've seen come into existence since we've been together," Elton, who underwent civil partnership with David in 2005, shared, "Having our civil partnership was an incredible breakthrough for people that have campaigned for a long time - through the '60s and the '50s in England when it was so hard to be gay and hard to be open about it. And it was a criminal act."

He continued, "So for this legislation to come through is joyous, and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well we have a civil partnership. We're not going to bother to get married.' We will get married."

David said that their marriage would be low-key. "I think what we'll do is go to a register office in England...and take the boys with us, and a couple of witnesses," the "Gnomeo and Juliet" producer told Las Vegas Review-Journal around the same time.

Elton and David started dating in 1993. They have two sons, born via a surrogate, 3-year-old Zachary and 23-month-old Elijah.
