The former 'The View' host said that Amal's wedding to George Clooney was 'really one of the greatest achievements in human history.'

AceShowbiz - Barbara Walters has revealed her Most Fascinating Person of 2014. Unveiled during her "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People" special on ABC on Sunday, December 14, the person whom Barbara chose was Amal Clooney.

"What does it take to fascinate one of the most fascinating men in the world?" Barbara asked the viewers. "[Amal] is known primarily through her spouse [George Clooney]. While we know little about her, we know a great deal about him. And he has fascinated many women, especially me."

She added, "Amal Alamuddin - known now as Amal Clooney - is suddenly in that stratosphere that we reserve for the Jackie O's or the Princess Di's or Kate Middleton. That is, everything she does, says or wears is officially fascinating."

When the clip of Amal was played, Barbara said, "This is Amal Alamuddin, George Clooney's beautiful bride. You could say hers was the wedding of the year. But let's put it into perspective: It was really one of the greatest achievements in human history."

The clip also showed Barbara's interview with George in 1995 when he declared that he would never get married again. "I know I'm never going to get married again because I wasn't very good at it," the "Gravity" actor told the host at that time.

Barbara then concluded, "Amazingly, Amal has been the subject of very little snark or envy. Maybe because we, like George Clooney, find it impossible to resist perfection. Or maybe because it is heartening to think that no matter how long it may take, the perfect someone is out there for everyone. And that, for us, makes her the most fascinating person of 2014."

Also included in Barbara's selection of Most Fascinating People of 2014 were Scarlett Johansson, Taylor Swift, Neil Patrick Harris, Oprah Winfrey, Chelsea Handler, Michael Strahan, "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin, billionaire David Koch and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
