AceShowbiz - One Direction was among the winners at the 16th edition of the NRJ Music Awards. The British boyband took home the International Group/Duo of the Year award at the event which was held on Saturday, December 13 in Cannes, France. It's the group's third time in a row to have won the title.
Other international stars who shone at the awards show put together by French radio station NRJ were Pharrell Williams, Sia Furler and Ariana Grande. The former two were named the International Male Artist of the Year and International Female Artist of the Year respectively while the latter grabbed the International Breakthrough of the Year award.
Sia additionally came out as the winner in International Song of the Year category for her hit single "Chandelier".
The 2014 NRJ Music Awards on Saturday also featured performances by some musicians, including One Direction who appeared on the stage to perform "Steal My Girl" from their "FOUR" album as a four-piece. Louis Tomlinson was forced to miss the performance due to an illness.
Before the event started, Tomlinson took to Twitter to apologize for not being able to make it to the show. "Been sick all night. Still really unwell. Absolutely gutted!!. So sorry to let our fans down at NRJ. :( sorry :( hope the lads smash it !!" he tweeted.
