AceShowbiz - The upcoming "King Kong" movie has been given a new title. Originally titled "Skull Island", it is now officially called "Kong: Skull Island". Universal has also set a new release date for the film, pushing it back from November 4, 2016 to March 10, 2017 probably to avoid competition against Marvel's "Doctor Strange".

"Skull Island" was first announced by the studio and Legendary Pictures during the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con in July. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is already on board to direct based on script penned by John Gatins ("Flight") and Max Borenstein ("Godzilla").

Tom Hiddleston, the villainous Loki from "The Avengers", has been tapped to play the leader of a team of adventurers exploring the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes. The film will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D.

In other news, Universal and Legendrary have announced that Zhang Yimou's "The Great Wall" is set for release in the U.S. on November 23, 2016. Marking the director's English-language debut, it tells the story of an elite force making a last stand for humanity on the world's most iconic structure. The film will be released in 3D.
