The 'Inherent Vice' actor clarifies on 'Good Morning America' that he just wants to spice up his 'boring' life story and makes him more interesting to public.

AceShowbiz - Joaquin Phoenix is not engaged after all. Hours after announcing on David Letterman's show that he was betrothed to his yoga instructor, the "Her" actor shows up on "Good Morning America" to reveal that he made up the engagement story.
"I think my life's so boring and so it seemed like something exciting to talk about," the Oscar nominee said. "I want the audience to like me, and they really like people who are getting married." He jokingly added, "I can get engaged again, if you like."
He also addressed his fake engagement story on "Live! with Kelly and Michael", saying that the "Late Show with David Letterman" host was aware it was a joke. He jokingly added that he proposed to Reese Witherspoon, his co-star in "Walk the Line" and "Inherent Vice".
In a statement to The Independent, Phoenix's rep said, "Joaquin has an extraordinary and spontaneous sense of humor but it is not true."
