'Peter Pan Live!' Does Fine Despite Prediction of Failure

Allison Williams delivers a solid performance as the title character with minimal mistake, proving that she can sing and act at the same time.

AceShowbiz - If you're one of those who had planned to mock "Peter Pan Live!" on Twitter, then the show may not live up to your expectation. Despite having been underestimated by some, NBC's latest holiday musical special went smooth without a major flaw.

Stepping away from her "Girls" role, Allison Williams as the title character proved that she can sing, dance and act without second takes, though she still needs to work on her British accent. One Twitter user wrote, "Although Allison Williams is singing beautiful, but her English accent is horrible! #PeterPanLive."

There could be a mishap when she nearly crashed into a wall during a flying scene set in Wendy's room, but she used her hand to cushion herself against the wall and recovered well despite looking a bit shocked.

The daughter of NBC News anchor Brian Williams could balance theater and movie vet Christopher Walken, who entertained audiences with his tap dance although he sometimes appeared to forget the lines.

The production crew did a good job with the sets, which were able to bring to life the imaginary world of Neverland. The use of CGI to present Tinkerbell was the right decision, too, as it created a faerie that looked real enough on viewers' TV sets.

Still, there were some odd moments, like when Tinkerbell was dying from poison and Pan looked into the camera and asked audience to clap their hands to save her. This could work on a theater with an actual audience present, but may be awkward for people to clap at home.

The crocodile, depicted by a man in a bright purple-and-blue costume, that kept scaring off Captain Hook and his pirates was a bit over the top and predictably became one of the most talked about things about the show on Twitter.

Adam Shankman poked fun at the crocodile, tweeting, "Future headline: #PattiLupone wins Emmy as the purple Modern dance alligator in #peterpanlive," and added later, "Future headline: #PattiLupone wins Emmy as the purple Modern dance alligator in #peterpanlive."
