The filmmaker is producing the adaptation of Tonya Hurley's best-selling novels with Valerie Van Galder.

AceShowbiz - A big screen adaptation of "Ghostgirl" books is on the way. Matthew Vaughn's MARV Films announced on Wednesday, December 3 that it had acquired the motion picture rights to the best-selling young adult series written by Tonya Hurley. The British filmmaker is producing alongside Valerie Van Galder.
The first "Ghostgirl" book was released in 2008 by Little Brown and Company. It centers on Charlotte Usher, a girl who always feels invisible at school, and then one day she dies after choking on a gummy bear. Its follow-ups include "Ghostgirl: Homecoming" and "Ghostgirl: Lovesick". The series have been published in more than 20 languages in nearly 30 countries.
"I am beyond thrilled to have ghostgirl in the hands of such creative, capable and passionate filmmakers," Hurley said. "I'm a raging Matthew Vaughn fan and I look forward to working with him, Val, and the whole team at Marv. To see Charlotte Usher come to life is a dream come true for me and for all the devoted ghostgirl fans around the world."

Vaughn is the same guy behind "X-Men: First Class" and "Kick-Ass". Most recently, he completed "Kingsman: The Secret Service" which is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters in February.
