'The Walking Dead' Apologizes for Spoiling the Big Death in Midseason Finale

Fans were enraged after the show posted a picture on its official Facebook that reveals the death of a beloved character in the latest episode of the AMC series.

AceShowbiz - "The Walking Dead" has apologized for a major spoiler on its official Facebook page. On Sunday, November 30, following the East Coast airing of "Coda", the show's account was updated with a picture of Daryl Dixon holding Beth Greene's body with a caption, "RIP Beth," spoiling the big death in the midseason finale.

The post was later taken down and reposted after the West coast airing, but some who hadn't watched the episode were not happy to get spoiled. Learning of this, the show posted on Monday, "We heard your feedback to last night's post, and we're sorry. With zero negative intent, we jumped the gun and put up a spoiler."

"Please know we're going to work to ensure that, in the future, possible spoilers by official AMC social feeds are killed before they can infect, certainly before the West Coast (U.S.) broadcast of The Walking Dead," it promised. "As always, thank you for watching, and keep the comments coming. We appreciate all of your support. #RIPSpoiler."

On Entertainment Weekly Radio, Norman Reedus who plays Daryl Dixon talked about how Beth's death would affect the other survivors. "She was such a beacon of hope, that girl. She sang and she had a positive outlook and she was hopeful," he said. "All these little slivers of hope are being taken from this group one by one. It just gets worse and worse and worse. Humanity and the goodness in people is slowly being evaporated from their world. I think she was a big beacon of hope for us, and to watch her go is just devastating."

The midseason finale drew 14.8 million, with 9.6 million among adults 18-49, up 23|percent| and 24|percent| respectively over last season's corresponding episode. It posted a record for the highest-rated midseason finale in the show's history.

The show will return with new episodes starting in February. AMC has just shared a new sneak peek for the upcoming return, showing the characters grieving.
